I think things are fine right as they are.

Where do you stand on DACA (the immigration policy affecting "Dreamers")?
I think we need to tighten up our borders and rescind this policy.
Children shouldn't be punished for the actions of their parents. The DACA policy should be made into law.
I think that the DACA young people should be grandfathered in as citizens.
I understand both sides of this argument and will leave it up to Congress.
How do you feel about the topic of the gerrymandering of districts?
If someone is unhappy about the districts, they should get involved to change the law of how they are drawn.
Those districts sure do seem to be ridiculous.
It is a major problem in our system and must be addressed immediately.
That's just liberals bellyaching because they keep losing.
Which presidential candidate was most appealing in 2016 to you?
Bernie Sanders.

Do you believe that the arts should be funded nationally?
Not at all. That is something completely for the private sector.
You might be surprised to find out that I do believe we should support the arts.
We should encourage the arts, but I'm not sure we need to fund them as a nation.
We absolutely should make it a priority as a nation to fund the arts and humanities.

Art gallery owner.

What are your thoughts on public education?
I think our current system could use a few tweaks, but that it is strong overall.
We should privatize education and remove it from the public system.
We need to make significant investments in education and improving our system.
We should figure out a way to make college affordable or free for our citizens.

The government owns far too much land and has too many regulations in place.
We need to protect our public lands and keep strong regulations that protect our natural resources.
Our parks and public lands are vital to our national interests.
There could be some compromise on onerous regulations while still protecting our public lands.
Where do you stand on welfare programs?
I would look to increase efficiencies in these programs while keeping them in place.
These programs should be expanded, not contracted.
These programs are the social safety net and are vital to protecting those of our citizens who are most in need.

How do you feel about Confederate statues being removed?
I think it is a shame to remove our history like that.
The reaction is understandable and we should make clear that we do not condone white supremacist groups.
Perhaps it would be better to add informational plaques that make clear our modern interpretation of the statues.
They should all be brought down, along with any tribute to racism and treason.
How well would you say you are able to compromise?
I am a bit of a maverick within my own party.
I have the ability to cut a deal with some charm and grace.
I'm very pragmatic and can work both sides of the aisle.
I'm not willing to compromise on issues that are important to me.

I am very skilled at keeping my mouth shut.

I don't believe that government should have any role in healthcare.
I believe that healthcare is a human right and should be guaranteed to all by any civil society.
We should have a strong health care system that protects the poorest of our society.
I think we can make healthcare a lot more affordable.
Should marijuana be made legal?
We should get away from incarcerating drug users and focus on treatments that are effective.
There should be stiff penalties for those who use drugs.
It should be made legal for medicinal and recreational uses.

Do you think Russia was involved in hacking the 2016 election?
I can't believe there is any doubt on this matter. They obviously did.
Based on the evidence, it sure seems likely.
