The Whopper has been Burger King's signature burger since it was introduced in 1957 with a 37 cent price tag. In 1970, the company started serving the sandwich on a sesame seed bun, like the Big Mac, then switched to a kaiser roll in 1985.

The Roast Beef Sandwich was the only item on the menu at Arby's in 1964. It cost a whopping 69 cents, while the average fast food burger of the time cost just 15 cents.

The Burrito Supreme ranks as one of Taco Bell's most popular products. Filled with beef, refried beans, cheese, lettuce, tomato and red sauce, it's a filling take on the traditional Mexican dish.

Introduced in 1946, the Chick-Fil-A Chicken Sandwich contains a brined and breaded breast, a perfect pair of pickles and a soft white roll. The company likes to say it didn't invent the chicken, "Just the chicken sandwich."

Culver's is a Wisconsin-based food chain found throughout the Midwest. Its classic Butter Burger comes in single, double and triple modes to feed any appetite.

McDonald's started serving breakfast in 1972. It's version of hash browns is an oval patty half an inch thick, which is crispy on the outside, but soft and smooth inside.

The Chalupa is similar to the taco but is served inside a deep-fried flatbread rather than a taco shell. Taco Bell's Chalupa Supreme is​ stuffed with beef, sour cream, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes.

McDonald's started serving its Egg McMuffin in 1972. This iconic breakfast sandwich includes a fried egg, Canadian bacon and American cheese stacked on an English muffin.

Shake Shack started as an NYC hot dog cart before becoming a popular burger chain. Its Smoke Shack burger is easy to spot because it's topped with a bright red cherry pepper relish.

Up until 1992, McDonald's famously fried its iconic apple pie. There was outrage when the company switched to baked pies in 1992, and some devoted fans argue the pie hasn't been the same since.

White Castle began in the mid-Atlantic in 1929, where it sold its tiny sliders for just 5 cents each. As the chain grew, fans flocked to the restaurant to pick up a bag of the miniature square burgers.

The Texas-based Whataburger offers a signature burger all its own. The Original Whataburger comes complete with lettuce, tomato, diced onions and pickles, all loaded onto a toasted five-inch bun.

Move over potatoes! Burger King is switching to chicken. Introduced in 2005, Burger King Chicken Fries are easy to eat and dip. Though they were discontinued a few times over the years, BK made them a permanent menu addition in 2015.

In 1962, McDonald's introduced its Filet-O-Fish to accommodate Catholics, who couldn't indulge in burgers on Fridays during Lent. The crispy fish sandwich comes with tarter sauce and a slice of American cheese.

Hardee's Thickburger is the chain's signature dish. The one-third pound patty comes topped with American cheese, mayo, ketchup, mustard, lettuce tomato, red onion and cheese.

West coast chain In-n-Out is famous for its "secret" menu. One option is a burger served Animal Style -- complete with all the fixings, plus the restaurant's own secret sauce.

In 2012, Taco Bell and Doritos teamed up for one of the most popular partnerships in the history of the food industry. Doritos Locos Tacos feature the classic Taco Bell taco wrapped in a Doritos-flavored shell. The company sold over a billion in just the first year.

Wendy's Baconator was introduced in 2007. It comes with two burgers, six strips of bacon and a load of gooey cheese. And no, there isn't a single veggie to get in the way of all that protein.

Chick-Fil-A introduced its iconic waffle fries in 1985. Unlike its competitors and their stick-straight fries, the company wanted fries that had lots of surface area to hold all of their yummy dipping sauces.

In-n-Out came out with its Double-Double in 1948, and the burger has stayed the same ever since. It's loaded with two patties, two slices of cheese, onions, lettuce and tomato -- all on a toasted bun.

Burger King gave a new twist to the classic fast food breakfast sandwich with its Croissan'wich. Served on a toasted croissant, it's piled high with bacon, eggs, and American cheese.

Let's face it -- lots of fast food is eaten in the car. Plenty of fast food restaurants serve their own version of chicken tenders, which can be eaten -- and dipped -- with just one hand.

Need a hearty breakfast? Hardee's Monster Biscuit contains more than 800 calories of deliciousness, including bacon, sausage, ham, eggs and cheese.

Sonic's Bacon Cheeseburger Toaster puts a new twist on the classic burger by swapping the bun for two slices of Texas Toast. The burger itself comes with cheese, bacon, barbecue sauce and a crispy onion ring.

Chick-Fil-A offers a more compact version of the chicken nuggets sold at many fast food chains. Pressure-cooked in peanut oil, they come with lots of dipping sauce options.

The Loaded Breakfast Sandwich at Jack in the Box comes complete with pretty much every breakfast meat available. Bacon, sausage, ham, eggs and cheese are stuffed between two pieces of sourdough.

The famous McDonald's Big Mac cost just 45 cents when it came out in the mid-'60s. It's still made the same way today as it was then -- two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions and a three-part sesame seed bun.

Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich is designed to appeal to fast food fans who prefer something other than another burger. It consists of a zesty breaded chicken breast topped with lettuce, tomato and mayo.

Like all Wendy's burgers, the Double Stack features square patties. It includes a pair of burgers topped with American cheese, ketchup, mustard, pickles and onions.

The Burger King Bacon King tops out at over 1,100 calories. It includes two beef patties topped with bacon, American cheese, ketchup and mayo -- and no vegetables to ruin all that meatiness.

The basic Taco Bell Soft Taco comes with beef, cheese and lettuce nestled in a soft flour tortilla. The restaurant also offers a supreme version with tomatoes and sour cream.

Sometimes you just need a little snack to tide you over until the next meal. KFC has you covered with the Chicken Little, a 310-calorie sandwich on a sesame seed bun.

Taco Bell's Cinnamon Twists are one of the more unusual desserts in the fast food world. These puffed corn twirls are coated with cinnamon and sugar for a delicious treat or side.

The Arby's Smokehouse Brisket is unique mostly because of its toppings. The smoked beef brisket is topped with gouda, crispy onions, mayo and barbecue sauce.

McDonald's McRib Sandwich came out in 1981 and has been on and off the menu since then. The boneless beef "ribs" are soaked in BBQ sauce and topped with onions and pickles.

KFC has some of the most filling fries in the fast food industry. These deep-fried potato wedges are tossed in their own blend of herbs and spices, just like the restaurant's famous chicken.

McDonald's McChicken wasn't all that popular when it came out in 1980, but has earned plenty of fans since then. The crispy chicken patty comes served on a toasted bun, complete with shredded lettuce and mayo.

The Taco Bell Gordita is similar to the company's tacos, but uses a warm, soft flatbread in place of a standard shell. The flatbread is heaped with beef, cheese, sour cream, lettuce and tomatoes.

McDonald's French Fries are a popular side to accompany the restaurant's burgers and sandwiches. Until 1990, they were cooked in beef tallow, which was replaced by the beef-free vegetable oil that is still used today.

Subway continues to grow, with 45,000 stores around the world -- half of which are in the U.S. The company's Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki Sub is easy to spot, and can be topped with almost any topping you choose.

The Big Carl from Carl's Jr. is very similar to the Big Mac, with one major exception -- it doesn't have the three-piece bun, and uses Thousand Island dressing instead of a special sauce.

The McDonald's Chicken Snack Wrap features a crispy or grilled chicken tender wrapped in a tortilla and topped with cheese and lettuce. It comes in both ranch and BBQ flavors to suit different tastes.

The classic Chick-Fil-A Chicken Biscuit came out in 1986. It consists of a breaded chicken breast like those offered for lunch and dinner, but instead of a bun, it's served on a buttery biscuit.

The Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme comes wrapped in a folded and fried tortilla for easy handling. Stuffed inside, diners will find beef, sour cream, tomatoes, lettuce and nacho cheese.

The Buttery Jack is the signature sandwich of the Jack in the Box chain. It consists of a half-pound patty topped with provolone, tomato, sauce, lettuce, cheese and delicious melted garlic butter.

It's not so easy to find a Reuben at a fast food restaurant other than Arby's. Served on rye bread, it consists of corned beef topped with melted Swiss, sauerkraut and thousand island dressing.

The Sourdough Jack from Jack in the Box puts a new twist on the classic burger. The beef patty is topped with bacon, tomato, Swiss, mayo and ketchup, then sandwiched between two slices of sourdough instead of a bun.

McDonald's Quarter Pounder has a lot in common with the Big Mac, but eliminates the middle bun. Introduced in 1972, it features double cheese, ketchup, mustard, onions and pickles.

What's better than chicken nuggets? How about chicken nuggets for breakfast, served on mini rolls flavored with honey butter? Chicken Minis from Chick-Fil-A offer this delicious breakfast combo, and yes, you can dip them.

Forget regular pizza -- Taco Bell offers its own Mexican Pizza that swaps tomato sauce for zesty enchilada-style sauce. The flour tortillas are also topped with beef, beans, three cheeses and tomatoes.
