Mario and Luigi are two fictional characters from Nintendo's Mario video game franchise. As a character, Mario is shown to be an outgoing and adventurous Italian plumber while his brother Luigi is shown to be an anxious and introverted person who is not as hot-headed as his brother. 

On his own, Mario has appeared in over 200 video games, some of the most popular including Super Mario Bros., Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Bros. and Mario Kart. Luigi is Mario's twin brother who often takes on the role of his sidekick in many of the video games.

All of the games are centered around Mario and his adventures, which usually include rescuing his love interest, Princess Peach from the evil Koopa, Bowser. Players must run and jump across platforms as well as defeat enemies in different themed levels. Along the way, they encounter various characters and power-ups that help them on their journey.
