Throughout history, the vast majority of humans spent their entire lives within a 20-mile radius. Travel was difficult, expensive, and it took a really long time, plus if you went too far, you really couldn't guarantee if you would ever come back. Communicating with home was hazardous, with letters often taking months to arrive and sometimes not getting there at all. It was safer simply to stay put.
All that changed with the advent of the car, and later mass commercial air travel. Soon millions across the world were able to jet off to destinations all over the planet, even if they hailed from the very heartland of the United States where such opportunities can run over a grand simply to get where you're going, much less eat or stay anywhere.
Travel broadens the mind, exposing people to new ideas and different ways of doing things. It's something nearly all of us want to do, and for those who have the privilege, it's definitely worth it to see strange and different sites and meet people whose assumptions differ from yours. So if you have done it, this quiz is your opportunity to brag a little, and let us guess just how well-traveled you are!
