Lasagna is a classic Italian pasta dish that consists of layers of lasagna noodles, meat sauce and cheese. It's usually topped with extra cheese and baked until it's hot and bubbly.

Nachos have layers of tortilla chips, cheese, and Tex Mex-style toppings like pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, ​and jalapenos. This is also large enough to feed a crowd of friends or family.

A seven-layer dip consists of ingredients like cream cheese, refried beans and sour cream, among others. The layers allow for many different flavor profiles, all in one bite.

A seven-layer salad has (or more) layers of vegetables and protein for lots of flavor combinations. Examples of layer choices include peas, eggs, olives and cheese.

Tiramisu is best served chilled and is made with ingredients like mascarpone cheese, coffee and ladyfinger cookies. Cocoa powder is also sprinkled on top for extra richness.

Rainbow jello consists of layers of rainbow colors and flavors, with layered white gelatin in between. Other variations include patriotic colors like red, white and blue for the Fourth of July.

While the other pies in this list contain sweet ingredients, a shepherd's pie contains savory ingredients for a hearty and tasty meal. This meat pie has layers of ground beef and vegetables, with an extra layer of mashed potatoes on top.

A BLT stands for "bacon, lettuce, tomato" but may also include seasoned mayo or another type of dressing. The bread should also be of good quality, so that it can adequately hold these layers together.

When you cut into a layer cake, you'll see several layers of cake and frosting. Bakers can also change the color of the frosting with food coloring for a fun appearance.

Layered brownies can be made by spreading various types of mixes over a brownie mixture. You can add tasty ingredients like crushed walnuts, marshmallows, peanut butter cream or mint fudge.

You're probably familiar with a classic burger meal, as it has many layers of flavorful ingredients. Examples include lettuce, onions, tomatoes, ketchup, mayonnaise and bacon.

As strange as the name may sound, a baked Alaska is actually a difficult layered dessert to make, as it involves creating layers of ice cream and cake housed inside a dome of meringue. This dome is then baked for a little bit to (slightly) brown the outside.

An apple crumble has layers of sweet apples, a "crumble" of sugar and nuts and some ice cream on top to cut through the richness. You could even drizzle some caramel on top for extra sweetness.

A parfait has layers of yogurt, fruit and nuts that can be mixed together for a flavorful bite. Other variations include substituting ice cream in for the yogurt.

A taco salad usually has a base of lettuce, along with layers of ground beef, tortilla chips, cheese, olives and sour cream. This is similar to nachos, except there is a base of lettuce instead of a base of tortilla chips.

A pie has three layers: the crust, the filling and the top layer of pastry crust. You can even add a scoop of ice cream and a drizzle of caramel or fudge on top for extra flavor.

Cookie bars are similar to brownies, except that they taste like cookies! These consist of a crust, with layers of chocolate and nuts in the center, followed by a top layer of frosting or crust to hold it all together.

A spumoni consists of layers of ice cream, such as chocolate, pistachio and cherry ice cream. There is usually a crust at the bottom to hold these layers in place.

A zuccotto looks like a chocolate dome that has layers of cake, fruit and whipped cream inside. This can also be enhanced with a glaze or toasted nuts on top.

An affogato has dual layers of ice cream and espresso, with an extra addition of ice cream and nuts on top. The espresso is typically poured over the ice cream to create an extra rich layer.

A tartufo looks like a small dome from the outside, and has layers of ice cream and fruit in the center. The outer layer is usually covered in chocolate ganache or a crushed chocolate crust.

A layered pavlova involves multiple layers of pavlova, cream and fruit. Pavlova is made by combining egg whites, sugar and cream of tartar together.

A pizza is a popular layered food that consists of a pizza crust, a layer of tomato or white sauce, various types of vegetables and protein and a layer of cheese on top. Pizza is then baked until the crust turns to a golden brown color.

A club sandwich involves many layers of deli meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo and bacon. Some of these sandwiches even consist of a layer of bread in the middle.

Moussaka involves layers of ground beef, eggplant and a bechamel sauce on top. It is then topped with cheese and baked until the casserole becomes hot and bubbly.

Believe it or not, this layered sandwich bears the first name of Elvis Presley. Some people also add bacon slices as an additional layer for a crunchy and salty bite.

Fool's Gold Loaf is a type of layered sandwich that was invented by the Colorado Mine Company. Inside of the sandwich, you'll find bacon, jam and peanut butter.

A monte cristo sandwich has layers of ham and cheese, as well as mayo and mustard for a savory bite. The outside of the bread is then lightly fried for a crispy texture.

A stuffed French toast can be made by taking two thick slices of bread and adding a layer or two of filling in between before frying it. Examples of filling can include strawberries, cream cheese, ricotta and nuts.

A croque monsieur is a layered ham and cheese sandwich that is is toasted on the exterior for a crunchy texture. You can either bake this sandwich in the oven, or lightly fry it in a pan.

An egg casserole has layers of crumbled meat, cheese and vegetables, like onions and peppers. You can also add in bacon and tomatoes for extra flavor.

A quesadilla consists of layers of cheese, chicken or other meat and vegetables in between two tortillas. The outside of the tortillas are then grilled to a golden perfection.

An icebox cake has layers of cookies and whipped cream, which is typically put together in a deep rectangular or square dish. It is then refrigerated to hold its shape.

When you cut into a pinwheel cake, you'll see a spiral swirl of cream that looks like a pinwheel. The cream can also be mixed with fruit or nuts for additional flavor.

A strawberry shortcake consists of layers of shortcake, cream and strawberries for a simple, but tasty dessert. You can even add a strawberry glaze on top for extra flavor.

A fruit tart consists of a crust followed by a layer of sweetened cream cheese. This is then topped with layers of fruit, such as kiwi, strawberries and blueberries.
