The American badger hunts at night, but will come out during the day if there is little food. They do not hibernate, which means they need thick coats to keep them warm in the winter.

The golden jackal is an omnivore, but it does hunt small game. It also scavenges. The deserts usually have very little food just popping up where you need it, and a golden jackal will eat what it can. Anything you can get in Africa, right?

This medium-sized bird can be found across India. It's a migratory raptor, and unlike most raptors, it forms very large flocks when it migrates ... we guess you could say that they are families that prey together.

Komodos like to ambush their prey. They can hunt on land or in the sea. While they can go over a year without eating, they can also grow over ten feet long and weigh around 200 pounds.

Polar bears use ice as a platform to hunt seals. They are formidable hunters, and they have been known to attempt to pull whales out of the water, though this is rarely successful.

Hyenas play an important role in African habitats. They hunt large mammals. A little known fact is that there are only four known species of hyenas alive today, and they are in one of the smallest mammal classes.

Cougars prefer to hunt large animals. These include deer, elk and moose. They are mostly found in the mountainous regions of North America. While they rarely attack humans, they will if it is necessary, such as if they feel threatened.

African wild dogs have an 85% success rate while hunting. This makes them one of the most successful predators that are currently alive in Africa. They are also known as Painted Wolves.

The Burmese python is in the top five largest species of snake (they can reach up to 12 feet long), and they prefer warm, tropical climates. This predator generally feeds on large mammals.

The jaguar is native to the Southwestern United States and Mexico. However, they can call areas of Central and South America home. They usually eat medium to large mammals, but some have been known to eat crocodiles.

The saltwater crocodile is the largest living reptile. It can get up to 18 feet long. While the adults will eat pretty much anything that comes near them, they generally prefer birds and fish, because they are easiest to catch.

This is one of the most poisonous snakes in the world. Like most snakes, the common death adder prefers to eat birds and smaller mammals, but it will strike larger mammals which threaten it (even if they can't eat it).

Bengal tigers can weigh nearly 500 pounds. They were put on the Endangered Species List in 2008. They generally prey upon larger mammals that include chital, deer, and even water buffalo.

The long-tailed weasel lives mainly in Canada and The United States. However, certain colonies live in various parts of northern South America. These predators like to eat small vermin like mice.

The leopard cat is rather small. Adults weigh around 8 to 9 pounds, and can be found throughout Asia. Like other small predators, they prefer vermin and small mammals as the major part of their diet.

Contrary to its markings, the maned wolf is not related to the fox. Though not endangered, they are frequently killed by automobiles. When it comes to hunting, the maned wolf prefers rabbits and small rodents.

Philippine eagles are also known as monkey-eating eagles. They prey on medium-sized mammals. These birds of prey have interesting head feathers that make them distinct (as eagles go).

The black caiman feed on a fish, reptiles, birds, and mammals. They can be found in the Amazon.

You may remember electric eels from children's movies of the 1980s. It seemed like every villain had one. However, electric eels aren't really eels at all. They are considered knifefish. They mostly feed on invertebrates.

Poison dart frogs can be found in Central and South America. They usually live in tropical places. They don't poison their prey, but they are poisonous to humans. Poison dart frogs generally eat flies and insects like other frogs.

Scientists still have a lot of questions about the Fossa. However, many know that they feed on lemurs in Madagascar. These interesting creatures look very much like felines, but they are more closely related to the mongoose.

There is no doubt that the island of Madagascar has some of the most interesting creatures on the planet. The aye-aye has rodent-like teeth that never stop growing, which make them terrifying to think about, but not to bad to look at.

Orcas, also known as killer whales, are actually a species of dolphin. They are found all over the world, but are most common where the water is coldest. Additionally, there are orca pods that will swim to the shore just to catch their prey.

The nine known species of tigers that still exist are found in Asia. Tigers are known to call the wetlands, grasslands, rain forests and savannas home. They are excellent at adapting.

There are more than 40 species of falcons around the world, and they are distinct birds of prey based on their beak and wing shapes. These birds of prey generally eat smaller mammals like mice.

Cheetahs can run up to 75 miles per hour. However, they can't maintain this speed as their bodies overheat (which is their prey's only chance at survival). If they overheat, they can actually damage their brains.

Lynx are medium-sized cats. They're mostly found in North America. A lynx (also known as a bobcat) can live up to seven years and some larger species can reach over 60 pounds when they're fully grown.

The caracal can also be found in Africa, Central Asia and India. It has incredibly long legs and a short face. While they are medium-sized predators, they usually eat small mammals and birds.

While they're omnivorous, they like to eat small animals, reptiles and fish. They are around the same size as domestic cats, reaching around 15 pounds at adulthood and growing to just over two feet long.

About This Quiz

When it comes to learning about the world around us, the human race has taken to learning about the animal kingdom. Perhaps we find solace in the fact that there are other predators out there, or maybe we just want to learn how to hunt better. Either way, we have a specific fascination with the predators of the animal kingdom. The great thing about predators is the fact that they live in nearly every natural habitat. As a major part of the circle of life, predators are necessary to thin out overpopulations of other animals, which can save countless species of plant life. They also all have unique hunting styles and preferences for prey. These instinctual beings know only two things in life: eating and procreating. Monitoring predators allows us to understand the core instincts in every animal, and that's what makes them so interesting.

Whether you're a nut for nature shows, or you just like to learn about everything that you can possibly learn about, you probably know a thing or two about the predators of the world. You may even be able to point them out in a lineup, but do you know where they live? Take this quiz to see if you can tell us where to find these animal predators.
