Ancient Egyptians did some amazing things in their civilization, not the least of which were the incredible pyramids they built to house their dead. The things they were able to do without the technology we take for granted to get such things done was amazing. Maybe that's why we're still fascinated by their culture all these years later. It seems so different from ours that it's kind of amazing and hard for us to understand. On the upside, they left behind a lot of information that we've been able to learn from including books, paintings, and art that help us understand who they were and why and how they did the things they did. Part of that also includes understanding how they understood the world around themselves, including animals.
Thanks in part to the Nile River, Egypt has a wide range of wildlife that people even thousands of years ago were familiar with. You can see them in the images of their gods—crocodiles, jackals, toads, cats and more. All animals in their beliefs had purpose, power, and reason. Many of those animals can still be found in Egypt today. So which one do you think matches up most with you? Which of the veritable zoo of Egyptian animals mirrors your personality? Take the quiz and see!
