About This Quiz

Sometimes people need a little Dutch courage to get out of their shells. Sometimes they need some Dutch courage, some French courage, some Scottish courage, some German courage, and a couple shots of Russian courage as well. Inebriation has been a part of human civilization for thousands of years, with written recipes for wine and beer going back as far as ancient Egypt.

Alcohol is so entwined with human culture, nearly every culture in the world has given birth to a distinct kind of alcohol and a litany of expressions and sayings around it. "In wine is truth," said the Romans. "War and drink are the two things man is never too poor to buy," wrote William Faulkner. "Three glasses of wine end a hundred quarrels," goes a Chinese proverb. Alcohol was the basis for many rules around hospitality and etiquette around the world, and even the advent of the pub or bar as a social hub. The founding fathers' minutes of their secret meetings include notes on how much beer, wine, and scotch they consumed at each meeting, and it was a lot.

Now is your turn. Will your drunken decisions match those of Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson, or will you wind up face down in your couch? Answer a few questions and we will guess how long it has been since you were last laid!
