Girl groups have been around since the 1920's to the 1930's, with some of the first popular ones being the Andrew Sisters and the Boswell Sisters. By the 1950's-1970's, which is also known as the "golden age of girl groups," we saw the rise of The Supremes as well as a few one-hit wonder acts.
From the late 1980's to the 1990's, girl groups like Destiny's Child, The Spice Girls, TLC and En Vogue were extremely popular and took the world by storm. By the time the new millennium had arrived, there were so many girl groups that it was very difficult to keep up with them, and some of our favorites were on the verge of calling it quits.
In the 2010's, many of the popular groups were formed on talent shows, with Fifth Harmony being formed on X-Factor US and Little Mix on the British version of the show.
