About This Quiz

Whether you know what it means to miss New Orleans or grew up in a lonely Appalachian "holler," one thing's for sure: the South is in your blood. This part of the United States exerts a charm like no other, which has given birth to a number of regional traditions, from the French-influenced Creole and Cajun cultures of Louisiana to the urban African-American culture of Atlanta to the plaintive country music of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

If you're taking this quiz, we're guessing that you're either a native Southerner or someone who moved to the South out of sheer fascination with its ways. Regardless of whether you're a Southerner by birth or by choice, we respect your gumption. The South is beautiful, but that beauty comes with a price tag: harsh heat, obnoxious critters and a slower way of life. (Of course, some may see a more sedate lifestyle as a feature, not a bug!)

Are you curious about how deeply the South has sunk into your soul? If you'd like to find out if you're 100% Southern or just another dang Yankee, this is the quiz for you. Tell us how you feel about flowering dogwood, succotash and Flannery O'Connor, and we'll reveal exactly how Southern you are! Ready? Let's get quizzing!
