South America is located in the south Western Hemisphere and is the fourth largest continent, made of 12 different countries and has a population of over 350 million people. It has some of the highest mountains, biggest lakes, and some of the tallest waterfalls in the world.
Across the continents, several languages are spoken, and while they all have their own culture, they are collectively known for their Latin and fiery flair. From its warm climate to their friendly personalities to festivals like Carnival and Day of the Dead, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
South America is known worldwide for attractions like the Iguazu Falls in Argentina, Machu Picchu in Peru, Angel Falls in Venezuela, the Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil, Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia and the Galapagos islands off the coast of Ecuador. The latter is most famous for being the place where Charles Darwin's developed his theory of natural selection.
