About This Quiz

Throughout history, one of the easiest ways for women to go around all the nonsense of silly patriarchal societies was to simply be born into the right family. The advantages of being super-duper upper class can slice through a huge number of obstacles to achieving power, success, or getting a whole lot of money. It provides the opportunity to be incredibly educated. It offers resources to blow on making a few mistakes, an essential part of becoming successful. It means people give you introductions and opportunities to find out your limits. It ensures your health is the best it can be. For women in particular, it means you enjoy good childcare and cannot be as easily forced into marriage that might derail your personal growth; it enables the combining of all the demands of motherhood and wife-hood with those of your other goals, dreams, and strengths. That's why so many of the great women of history have been queens.

However, simply being queen didn't entirely free these women from the absurdity of sexism. They often had to be savvier, more ferocious, and more accomplished than male counterparts simply to stay alive, and for their kingdoms to thrive, they had to go even further. Fortunately they knew what they were up against, and most had been preparing their whole lives. That's why we've heard of a disproportionate number of queens compared to kings. They slayed (literally) because they had to - and that's why whether you are a man or a woman, they are great people to look to for inspiration these days!
