YouTube, which was created in 2005, is a video sharing website founded by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim. It allows users to upload, view, share, rate and comment on videos from other members as well as yourself. It also allows a person to subscribe to other people's channels and get notifications as to when they upload new content. 

There are few limits as to what can be seen and added on YouTube, and because of that, there is something for everyone. What was once a simple website to watch movie trailers or funny cat videos has over the last 10 years become one of the most widely used websites on the planet. 

Gone are the days where people held traditional 9- 5 jobs, as we are now in the era of YouTube. People now make money simply by talking about themselves or creating vlogs (video blogs) of their day-to-day life and adventures. Some people are so popular that they have millions of subscribers around the world, making them celebrities.
